Guide To Buying A Memory Foam Mattress On The Internet

When buying your memory foam mattress on the Internet, take note of the following tips:

Try to search for best discounts when shopping online for your memory foam mattress. There are many online stores that sell discount memory foam mattresses at far less than the original cost. Such memory foam sellers on the Internet can afford to sell at discount because they don’t have as much overhead cost like other offline suppliers selling memory foam. So, take your time on good websites and use the search engines to find such online stores that sell discount.

Don’t pay too much for shipping when buying your memory foam mattress on the Internet. There are many Internet stores selling these mattresses that will give you very low cost or even completely free shipping. They do as a way of helping you to save cost. They figure that if they could reduce the cost of shipping for more customers, they would be able to sell more of their memory foam mattresses to more people. This is a good business strategy.

Ensure that the website you will place your order for your memory foam is one with good reputation. You don’t want to get ripped off on the Internet, because this is becoming common. There are many fly-by-night-gone-by-day online companies that have been set up with the sole purpose of ripping people off. Check the company’s online reputation with the BBB and other agencies to ensure it is genuine before placing your order for your memory foam mattress.

Before placing your order online, make sure that the company has a secure payment processing system in place. You don’t want to lose your credit card and personal information to identity thieves on the Internet. If you are not sure, ask the company before placing your order.

Visco Memory Foam Mattress

A visco memory foam mattress gets it’s name from the visco-elastic material developed for NASA in the early 1970′s in conjunction with the space program.

The astronauts in the space program were facing incredible g-forces, at take-off and re-entry, and the materials that were available, at that time, weren’t sufficient to cushion their bodies.

Of course, they weren’t looking for a memory foam mattress, they needed seating that was more like a big, overstuffed recliner.

Visco memory foam was developed from foam that had some unique characteristics, such as being open celled and able to return to their original shape and resiliency after being compressed.

You may have seen the commercial with the 30 ton steam roller smashing a mattress flat and how it slowly returns to it’s exact original shape…or maybe you’re more familiar with the picture of a hand above a mattress with the hand print still showing on it.

Both illustrations are meant to show you the slow recovery of visco memory foam.

Because the billions of cells, in a visco memory foam mattress, are open, air can slowly escape from them and pass into other cells that are adjacent.

As you lie on a visco memory foam mattress, it “melts away” from you until your body is completely and evenly supported over it’s entire surface.

That’s what has been termed by some as feeling like you’re floating in space.  (Even though I love my mattress, I’ve never felt like that was a good explanation of how it feels)

A visco memory foam mattress is temperature sensitive, so it reacts to your body temperature by softening where your body is in contact with the mattress.  If you have an injury, with a fever, the mattress is softer under that place on your body.

In the beginning developments of this material, it was too expensive to be used for residential consumer mattresses and pillows.

Over time, the manufacturing costs have been whittled to a point that a good memory foam mattress is as reasonably priced as a good innerspring mattress and there is no comparison in the comfort of the two.

Memory foam is now being combined with other materials to meet the needs of the vast multitude of consumers who are looking for:
a better night’s sleep
relief from back, neck or leg pain
relief from a partner’s restless movement
better circulation
a compromise to a softer feel for one person while maintaining the support the other person is used to from a firm mattress

Schedule some time to do some memory foam mattress pricing comparisons and you’ll see that you can, affordably, be sleeping on a mattress that is great for your body, health and your budget.

The Many Benefits of an Air Mattress

We take it for granted everyday that not everyone can afford or can comfortably sleep on a tradition coil spring bed. It’s true. There’s an alternative to the traditional beds that not many people really know about, or automatically assume that it’s not for them.

No, I’m not talking about a couch.

Instead, I’m talking about the tried and true air mattress bed that so many people are now using full time in their own homes. Amazing but true, and there are many reasons why this phenomenon is happening today.

Cost: It’s simply cheaper to purchase an air mattress over purchasing a traditional box spring coil bed. Whereas a traditional bed will sometimes cost between $400-$800, a nice modern comfortable air mattress bed, like the ones manufactured by Aerobed cost anywheres from $99 to $300. That’s a big difference in cost!

Comfort: For a lot of people, back aches and bed pains are a common occurrence often attributed to a traditional coil spring bed. However, some doctors are now recommending patients to try sleeping on an air mattress (adjusted to their own liking) to help get a better nights rest. When you can adjust how hard or soft the mattress you are laying on to help compensate for back pains, the bed has already started paying back dividends on your own quality of life!

Convenience: Yes, very convenient. Built in portability, the ability for it to self-inflate using supplied tools, and the ease of use of lending it out to friends and family to give someone proper sleeping arrangements all help to lend the air mattress a rating of high convenience. Traditional box springs fall flat in all these categories. Although some people may like the traditional bed, more and more people are jumping on board and going to sleep on air.

What about you? Will you take the leap and sleep on air?
